Hull KR will contest Walker ban: | |
Hull KR will appeal to the Rugby Football League on Wednesday against centre Chev Walker's one-match ban. The 26-year-old was found guilty of striking Bradford's Glenn Morrison in the 13-13 draw at Odsal on Sunday and was also given a £300 fine. The suspension would see Walker miss Friday's Super League match with his former club Leeds. Rovers are seeking to have the charge reduced but the appeals panel also have the power to increase the punishment. If Walker is banned, his place is likely to go to New Zealander Jake Webster, who was left out of Sunday's season opener to make way for Kris Welham. Rovers will also be without captain Mick Vella because of a knee injury. He suffered knee ligament damage in the draw with Bradford and could be out for six weeks. Walker, who returned to rugby league last season after a spell with union side Bath, missed the last three months of last season with a wrist injury. |
